DIGITAL LEARNING DAY

+++ Week 3-  Apr 6, 2020+++
Please find below the assignments for this week (and upcoming weeks for Reading & Social Studies):

* Reading
We'll be reading The Lemonade War over the course of 3-4 weeks. All audio files and questions can be found in this folder/link
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1TD9ekaNSk6yDFJc9E5425pYCMP30OuMs

For Chapter 1-4 assignment and audio files, you can follow this Classkick link: https://app.classkick.com/#/login/7P5DL4

* Social Studies
They will start economic project- make a handicraft item (anything small but not edible. Some of the examples are bookmark, bracelet, painting, birdhouse, picture frame,  key chain, etc). I attached here the photos fyi and letter. There's one thing in the letter that you should not be worried about: since we don't come back to school and there will not be a year-end party (which again is very sad), your child DON'T have to make 10-15 items to sell. All they need to do are:

1. The worksheet (due by Apr 19)
2. The flyer (due by May 4)
3. The item (1) (due by May 11)

* Science
We will move to Animal Adaptation after Habitats. So EMAIL me if you need more time for the Habitat project (only if you HAVEN'T FINISHED). If you finished and turned in, you're good :-). Just wait for more information to come.

* Math
Continue assignments on Prodigy and IXL (since reading and social studies are already heavy)

* We still meet on Microsoft Teams on 1 pm every Thursday. Remember to click Join in order to enter the meeting room for the class. This week, I will incorporate Nearpod in the meeting. Nearpod is a platform for student engagement, very similar to Kahoot or Quizziz. It's just more fun things to do. I'm sure your kid will love it. They each will get a code to join Nearpod on Thursday during the meeting. If you want, you can have a look at the website in advance to familiarize yourself. If not, don't worry. I'll take care of it :-)

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks for all you do.

Stay well!

Ms. Dinh

Note about IXL: look for the starred suggested skills. Each skill has 25 questions. They
should do in about 30 minutes each skill (if they get it, they'll score 80-100 after about 30 minutes). If they spend more than 30 minute on a particular skill, that means they need more help on it.
I also attached some extra work (Interactive Homework Notebook & Literacy Workbook) for you to review with them if they finish all the work assigned.
*** Other reminders:
- There are folders for you to pick up at the school from Mon-Fri (9-3), if you do not have internet access or prefer a physical copy. In the folder, you'll find extra reading/science packet, math and GMAS practice. There's a sign-out sheet as well.
- There's no information on the date for GMAS yet. Therefore, we'll still practice for it.
- Lunch: please check with your child' home school
- All field trips are cancelled

Thanks for all you do.

Sending love and health to all! Please tell your child that I miss him/her. Stay safe!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me anytime between 8-4 from Mon-Fri. I will also try to set up a live classroom 30- minute session once a week on Zoom or Microsoft Teams. More information will be forthcoming.

Portrait HD Dear Families,

Welcome back to school and welcome to third grade!  I am looking forward to an exciting year as we learn and grow together.  I know wonderful and special things will happen in Room 26 this year as I want to make learning fun, and I know that your child can make great things happen.

I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I was born and raised in Vietnam and I graduated from Richard Stockton University in New Jersey with a degree in Elementary Education.  I also have my ESL teaching certificate. I earned my Master in Education in 2017 from Northcentral University. This will be my 7th year of teaching, and my 3rd year at New Life.  I am married. I am looking forward to working with you and I will do my best to make this year a positive and memorable learning experience for both you and your child.  Together, we can provide a better learning environment for all the children if we keep the communication door open. Welcome to...

Mrs. Dinh's Class

Dear Families,

Welcome to third grade!  I am looking forward to an exciting year as we learn and grow together.  I know wonderful and special things will happen in Room 24 this year as I want to make learning fun, and I know that your child can make great things happen.

I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I was born and raised in Vietnam and I graduated from Richard Stockton University in New Jersey with a degree in Elementary Education.  I also have my ESL teaching certificate. I earned my Master in Education last summer from Northcentral University. This will be my sixth year of teaching, but my second year teaching at New Life.  I am married. My husband and I have one son who is entering middle school. I love doing yoga, reading, and traveling. I have lived and worked in about ten different countries in Asia and Africa.

I am looking forward to working with you and I will do my best to make this year a positive and memorable learning experience for both you and your child.
